Parent Mentoring Coordinator

 Role Description

This role is responsible for coordinating our DEEWR Innovation Fund Pilot Project – the Parent Mentoring Program. This program is being delivered from our Campbelltown and Penrith sites by a team of contractors (including life coaches and specialist trainers), and a part-time reverse marketer/admin assistant. We require a coordinator to deliver and coordinate the program across both sites.

As part of this role, the coordinator will be responsible for

  • Marketing  the program to local service providers. Referral networks should include Employment Services Providers and other community services that work with disadvantaged parents (ie refuges, indigenous organizations, disability organizations, health providers, etc)
  • Coordination of enrolment processes, referrals and general enquiries
  • Coordination of our 12 day training program which includes organizing hairdressers, make-up and other professionals who may guest speak to the group.
  • Coordination of any contract trainers that may be used to assist in the delivery of the training program
  • Delivery of the training program
  • Mentoring of participants throughout the program
  • Coordination of life coaches or other professionals that may be utilized during the mentoring phase of the program
  • Coordination of marketing of participants to employers including the coordination of our telephone marketer.
  • Reporting of progress of program to management and assisting in reporting to DEEWR
  • Coordination of meetings with all staff/contractors involved in the program
  • Mentoring and supporting participants through regular meetings, small group programs, providing social support and referrals and assisting them to work through vocational and non-vocational barriers.
  • Providing regular feedback to referring agencies, particularly Employment Service providers
  • Provide participants with up to date vocational information (ie training options, labour market information, job search support if required)
  • Supporting participants through non-vocational barriers to employment, particularly relating to parent specific issues (ie child care, divorce and separation,  family support, getting children on-side, managing transition for family, work-life balance etc)
  • Coordinating file-keeping, information systems and general administration of program

 

 Selection Criteria

 

Essential

  •  Must have a sound knowledge of the Employment Services sector
  • Must have experience training and/or mentoring job seekers or parents from disadvantaged areas
  • Must have sound administrative and computer skills
  • Must have own motor vehicle (travel between sites is a necessary part of this role)
  • Must have a sound understanding of community, social, training and employment agencies that can support participants through vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment

  

Desirable

  •  Experience working with principal carer parents with participation requirements
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment
  • Established local networks with JSA and other ES providers
