About Work Savvy Parents

Work Savvy Parents provides aims to assist parents in their return to work journey. We deliver our services free to parents through Government funded grants or in partnership with Employment Service Providers or other organisations who contract our programs. Work Savvy Parents specialises in assisting parents who live in areas of disadvantage or who are reliant upon Centrelink allowances or pensions.

Work Savvy Parents is currently delivering a pilot program through the Department of Employment Education, Training and Work Relations (DEEWR) Innovation Fund Grant. Our funded program, the "Parent Mentoring Program" is currently being delivered in Outer Western Sydney and South Western Sydney and will commence in the Logan and Ipswich areas in early 2010.

Our workshop series titled "Balancing Family and Career" has been delivered in partnership with Employment Services Providers across the country. Some of our partnering organisations include:

  • Sarina Russo Job Access
  • Mission Australia
  • Salvation Army Employment Plus
  • Job Find Centres
  • Global Skills
  • YWCA/Job Futures
  • Campbell Page Employment

Work Savvy Parents has also provided industry training to Employment Services staff who work closely with job seekers from jobless families and single parents. Our one-day workshop "Strategies for Working with Parents" equips front-line workers with specific skills to manage, motivate and successfully place principal carer parents into sustainable employment. This program has been delivered through the National Employment Services Association's (NESA) Professional Development Program, and as an in-house program in larger organisations including Mission Australia and The Salvation Army Employment Plus.
